Everybody Needs A Hobby of the Day: Don Gorske, the “Big Mac enthusiast” best remembered for his appearance in Morgan Spurlock’s McDocumentary Supersize Me, is set to consume his 25,000th Big Mac at precisely 3PM today — 39 years after he took his first Big Mac bite.
“A person like me, I just don’t change too much,” Gorske told Fond du Lac reporter Russell Plummer. “”It’s pretty much two Big Macs a day. When I can travel to sporting events, I like to take my Big Mac along.” Gorske — who is also retiring today after 25 years as a scheduling officer for Waupun Correctional Institution — says his obsession with cataloging his Big Mac intake stems from a life-long struggle with OCD.
Guinness World Records will be on hand to certify Gorske’s tally at the Fond du Lac McDonald’s on S. Military Ave, where the first 300 patrons will receive Gorske buttons and meal coupons.
When asked what’s next on his plate, Gorske says he plans to take it one Big Mac at a time. “I think 25,000 is a pretty awesome number,” he told Plummer. “I’ll never live long enough to eat 50,000.”
